The lens decision is the real decision

The surgery itself is fairly standardized; what actually changes your outcome is which lens goes in. A monofocal lens gives sharp vision at one distance and glasses are still needed for the rest. Multifocal and extended-depth-of-focus lenses aim to reduce that dependence across near and far, at the cost of a higher chance of halos or glare at night for some patients. Toric versions of either lens correct astigmatism at the same time. There's no universally "best" lens — it's a trade-off your surgeon walks through based on your eyes, your astigmatism, and how much you value spectacle independence versus the sharpest possible night vision.
