Dental work is the most common reason people fly to Turkey, and it is also the treatment where quotes vary most and where patients most often return with something other than what they thought they had bought. The clinics are modern and the dentists experienced, but the selling language is loose: "veneers" can mean a conservative laminate or a full crown, and "full mouth in five days" describes a laboratory schedule, not implant biology.
Price: on request. Dental quotes depend on the number of teeth and the materials chosen, and are confirmed after a free assessment of your photos or a panoramic X-ray. A per-tooth figure without a unit count and a material name tells you nothing, so what we send back is a plan: how many units, in what material, over how many visits, and what is excluded. Veneers are thin facings bonded to the front of a tooth; done conservatively they remove a modest amount of enamel. Crowns cover the whole tooth and require it to be reduced on all sides — much more tissue is lost, and the tooth is committed to being crowned for life. Implants replace a missing tooth: a titanium fixture is placed in the bone, and a crown attached once the bone has fused to it.
The distinction is routinely blurred. Some clinics prepare teeth down to stumps and still call the result veneers; the patient finds out years later, when a unit fails and little tooth is left. Ask how much structure will be removed, ask for the prepared teeth to be photographed, and read how much tooth is actually removed before agreeing to a smile design.
Veneers and crowns — one trip, five to seven days. Day one: examination, X-ray, shade and shape agreed, teeth prepared, temporaries fitted. The laboratory makes the permanent units, you attend a try-in, adjustments are made, and everything is cemented on the last day. This is where "full mouth in five days" comes from, and for crowns and veneers it is broadly accurate.
Implants — normally two trips. On the first trip the fixture is placed in one appointment; the bone then needs three to six months to fuse to it, longer after a graft or sinus lift. The second trip, four to seven days, fits the abutment and final crown. Immediate loading can place a temporary crown the same day in selected cases, but osseointegration still takes months — it cannot be compressed to fit a holiday. If final crowns on implants are offered inside a week, ask what is being loaded and when: one trip or two sets out realistic schedules.
New crowns and veneers can be sensitive to hot and cold for a few weeks, and the bite often needs a small adjustment once you have eaten normally. A local dentist can do this; budget for it.
Warranties are where dental tourism gets tested. Most clinics guarantee crowns and veneers in writing, typically five to ten years, and implant fixtures often longer. Dental treatment in Turkey is sold by hospitals, standalone clinics and agencies, and the name on the invoice decides who is answerable if a crown fails in a year. Can I really have a full mouth done in five days?
For crowns and veneers, yes — that is standard laboratory turnaround. For implants, no: the fixture must integrate with bone, and that takes months however the trip is sold.
Will it look natural?
Shade and shape are planned with you before preparation begins, and you see temporaries and a try-in before cementation. Say clearly if you do not want the very white, uniform look.
What if something breaks after I get home?
Tell us and the clinic immediately, with photos. Most guarantees cover remaking the unit if you return to the same clinic; travel is not covered.
Do I need a night guard?
If you grind or clench, yes, and it is usually not in the package. Grinding is a common reason for a warranty claim being refused.
